SINK NOMINATED FOR BEST YOUNG PERFORMER IN NEW FILM ‘THE WHALE’
Brenham native and Hollywood actress Sadie Sink is turning heads on the big screen.
Sink, the daughter of Casey and Lori Sink, has been nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer for her role as Ellie in “The Whale”, which premiered in the United States on December 9th.
Sink co-stars with Brendan Fraser, who plays as Charlie, Ellie’s father and a reclusive English teacher with severe obesity. The film tells the story of Charlie and Ellie’s struggle to reconnect and restore their relationship.
Hannah Strong of Little White Lies praised Sink’s “tricky role” and said she “captures the anger and sadness that comes from parental abandonment.”
The drama is directed by Darren Aronofsky and is based on 2012’s screenplay of the same name by Samuel D. Hunter. It also has Critics Choice Award nominations for Brendan Fraser as best actor, best adapted screenplay, and best hair and makeup.
Sink is well-known for her role as Max Mayfield in “Stranger Things”, and has also starred in the Broadway musical “Annie”, the horror film series “The Fear Street Trilogy”, and the drama “Dear Zoe”, along with many other projects.
The 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards will broadcast live on The CW from the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 15th.
