There will not be a contested race for the Ward 3 seat on the Brenham City Council.
Monday was the deadline for candidates to declare for the position, which was vacated by Atwood Kenjura after his announcement that he would run for mayor.
Monday’s cutoff passed with Dr. Paul LaRoche III, a longtime dentist in Brenham, being the only candidate to file. As a result, Dr. LaRoche will fill the opening.
The only contested council position will be for mayor, between Kenjura and Keith Hofmann.
Ward 2 Councilmember Albert Wright and Ward 4 Councilmember Adonna Saunders are both unopposed for reelection.
Early voting will begin on April 24th and end on May 2nd. Election Day is May 6th.
