GIDDINGS ISD NAMES NEW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Michael Mahoney (Giddings ISD)

Giddings ISD has named Michael Mahoney as the new Principal for Giddings High School.

According to Giddings ISD, Mahoney has served as an administrator for the school district since August of 2017.  During his tenure, he has been Principal of the Alternative Placement Program, Assistant Principal at the Intermediate School, Assistant Principal at the High School, and most recently as Principal at the Intermediate School.

Mahoney graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013.  He earned a Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin University, and a Superintendent Certification from Lamar University.

In selecting him for the position, Giddings ISD Interim Superintendent Shane Holman said those who have worked with Mahoney quickly recognized he has the skills necessary to lead a campus to success.

During the transition phase, Interim Principal Karla Sparks will manage the day-to-day operations at the high school.  Mahoney will take over planning for the future of the campus, including the hiring of new teachers and staff, while continuing his role as Principal for the Intermediate School.

Giddings ISD has begun accepting applications for the Intermediate School Principal position.
