WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS TREASURER’S OFFICE PROCEDURES, HEAR QUARTERLY REPORTS
Tuesday’s meeting of Washington County Commissioners will include discussion on updated policies and procedures for the county treasurer’s office.
The agenda item was prompted by a request from Commissioner Kirk Hanath on July 18th to review how the treasurer’s office operates. It is in response to a former deputy clerk being charged with Credit or Debit Card Abuse after allegedly using a county credit card to make over $3,000 in unauthorized purchases.
The investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest last month of Lisa Michelle Grebe and her release from her position at the treasurer’s office. Grebe posted bond of $5,000 the same day she was arrested.
In other business on Tuesday, commissioners will hear quarterly reports from EMS and E-911 emergency dispatch.
A meeting for the Pecan Glen Road District will follow the court’s regular meeting. Possible action will include approval of the fourth payment application to Schrader Construction Co. for the road district improvements. The item was tabled from the court’s July 11th meeting.
The road improvements are paid for through proceeds from a bond approved by voters in the Pecan Glen Road District in May 2021. Only residents within the road district’s boundaries are paying the added tax to support the upgrades.
Also on the regular agenda, commissioners will:
- Act on a possible amendment to the road improvement agreement between the county and the Pecan Glen Road District dated August 31, 2021.
- Move upon naming Brenham Animal Services Manager Megan Gray as the Local Rabies Control Authority for Washington County. The Brenham City Council voted to appoint her as the LRCA at its meeting on July 24th.
- Potentially approve awarding the Washington County volunteer fire department auto policy, which includes theft fee coverage, accident and sickness coverage, portable equipment coverage and coverage for first responders.
- Consider a final plat for the Orchard Oaks subdivision located along Highway 36 North in Precinct 3, consisting of 15 lots and one road.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
