BLINN WOMEN’S SOCCER SETS PROGRAM SCORING RECORD IN REGION XIV SOUTH WIN OVER NORTHEAST TEXAS

The Buccaneers now have a single-season record of 46 goals scored this fall

The Blinn College women’s soccer team earned a Region XIV South victory and made history against Northeast Central Community College on Friday.

The Buccaneers, who hosted the Eagles at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas, cruised to a 16-1 victory and broke the Blinn women’s soccer program record for goals in a season.

The Bucs (4-2, 1-1 Region XIV South) now have 48 goals on the year, surpassing the previous total of 36 set in 2022. Blinn launched its men’s and women’s soccer teams in 2018.

Though Blinn had a fun night rewriting its record books, second-year head coach Alexandria Jackson, who has been a part of the program since 2019, said the win was the most important statistic of the night.

“It’s always a good day to get a win in conference and to have all the players play,” Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “We look forward to facing a very tough opponent in Tyler Junior College. Our only two losses have been against ranked opponents, and we want to change that.”

Blinn faces Tyler, ranked second in NJCAA Division I, in a Region XIV tilt at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, in Tyler, Texas.

Ahead of that key matchup, the Bucs took care of business against Northeast Central.

Blinn scored seven goals in the first half and nine in the second while outshooting the Eagles 37-1.

Eight different Buccaneers scored in the match, led by a record-setting six goals for freshman forward Aliyah Palmer, who set Blin’s single-game record. Freshman forward Haley Piatak had three goals, sophomore midfielder Brianna Hoffman had two, and sophomores Emeyda Cruz and Emma Orozco along with freshmen Marissa Aparicio, Paola Brizuela Razo, Alexandra Walker, and Alexia Richard each had one.

Freshman goalkeeper Cheiann George earned the victory in 90 minutes played for the Bucs.
