The featured muralist has been revealed for the 2023 Texas Arts and Music Festival, set for October 21-22.

Kay grew up in Cat Spring and has commissioned works of art for many entities, including Converse, the City of Houston, the City of Groesbeck and Typhoon Texas Waterpark.

Kay said she is excited to add a new mural to downtown Brenham’s growing display.  She said growing up in the area makes her “even more invested in this festival’s growth and outreach to the local and nearby communities.”

Brooke Trahan, a member of the festival board of directors, said, “Tyler’s journey of rediscovery through art and her dedication to community engagement align perfectly with our festival’s mission.”  Trahan said her career has taken her around the world, including Paris this fall, and that the new mural will “undoubtably inspire and touch the hearts of all who attend.”

The festival will also include a classic car cruise-in on the evening of October 22nd.  Other planned activities are an art village, children’s business fair, and music performances on the 22nd from the Brenham Children’s Chorus, Brenham’s own Nite Moves Band and headliner Reverend Horton Heat.  All events are free and open to the public.

The Texas Arts and Music Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing an event for art and music lovers to enjoy while raising money for local art programs.  The festival has provided support to art programs in Brenham, Burton and Sealy.

Sponsors for the festival include Dynamic Drains, Visit Brenham, Blue Bell Creameries, Brenham National Bank, Brannon Industrial Group and KTEX/KWHI.
