BLINN COLLEGE BAND TO HOLD FOUR FREE CONCERTS, PERFORM ‘SOUNDS OF THE SEASON’

The Blinn College Band will present a series of free concerts featuring three ensembles and its symphonic band.

Concerts include the brass ensemble on Monday, Dec. 4, the jazz ensemble on Tuesday, Dec. 5, the symphonic band on Wednesday, Dec. 6, and the percussion ensemble on Thursday, Dec. 7.

All four concerts will be held at 7 p.m. in the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Brenham Campus. They are open to the public and will be livestreamed on the Blinn College Music YouTube Channel.

The fall concert season will conclude with the popular “Sounds of the Seasons” on Friday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in Festival Hill in Round Top. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice.

“Each concert features different groups within the program and showcases the diversity of music being played in our program,” said Dr. Sarah Burke, Director of Bands. “We encourage the public to come out and support these students as our season of concerts concludes at Festival Hill.  Don’t miss this holiday tradition!”

The Buccaneer Band is part of the Blinn College Music Department, which also offers choral and vocal studies, piano study, brass ensemble, woodwind ensemble, jazz band, percussion ensemble, and steel drum band. 1. As much as I love events like this, I simply cannot handle the seating at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center. That has to be the most uncomfortable theater I have ever been to, the seats are small, there is no leg room, and the steps are steep. Blinn really needs to do something to improve that situation. There have been several events I would have enjoyed going to there, but I elect not to because of the seating. I get it that I am much older than a typical college student, but I find those seats to be as bad or worse than airline seating.
