KRUSE VILLAGE EMPLOYEE SUSPENDED AFTER INCIDENT, INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

  

Kruse Village in Brenham is conducting an investigation after an alleged incident involving a now-suspended staff member.

60-year-old Mary Garrett was arrested on Saturday after Brenham police received a report of an assault at Kruse Village.  Garrett was charged with Injury to a Child, Elderly or Disabled Individual with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury. 

Kruse Village Executive Director Ross Bradfield said the incident allegedly took place around 3:30 p.m. and was reported to law enforcement.  Bradfield said the alleged perpetrator was suspended from her duties immediately and will remain off-site while the facility performs an internal investigation.

Bradfield said Kruse Village is fully cooperating with law enforcement and local and state regulatory officials in this matter.  He said, “It is Kruse Village’s top priority to safeguard our residents’, team members’, and family members’ health and wellness.”

An accompanying statement from Kruse Village Communications Manager Katie Saleum said they are unable to make any additional comments at this time in order to remain compliant with privacy and safety policies.

The incident allegedly took place on December 16, 2023 around 3:30 in the afternoon. I, being the executive director of the campus, was promptly notified about the situation and arrived onsite. I reported the incident to law enforcement and had the alleged perpetrator suspended from her duties immediately. The facility is conducting an internal investigation and the team member in question will remain off-site. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and local and state regulatory officials in this matter. It is Kruse Village’s top priority to safeguard our residents’, team members’, and family members’ health and wellness.

We are aware of an alleged incident which involved an employee of Kruse Village. We take these allegations seriously and our team is cooperating fully with law enforcement as appropriate, as well as following all local and state regulatory guidelines.

Kruse Village’s top priority is safeguarding the health and safety of our residents, families, and team members. The team member involved has been suspended, effective December 16, and will remain off-site as we conduct a thorough internal investigation.
