TWO KILLED AFTER CRASH INVOLVING 18-WHEELER ON HIGHWAY 290 NEAR BRENHAM
Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Highway 290 west of Brenham.
The crash occurred shortly after 1:45 p.m. at Highway 290 and Sunset Road.
DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz reports that a 2004 Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on the highway at what was deemed an unsafe speed for the wet roadway conditions. The vehicle hydroplaned, crossed into the westbound lane and was struck by a 2013 Peterbilt 18-wheeler traveling westbound.
The driver of the Ford, 59-year-old Anita Goodrich of Brenham, and an unidentified passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Justice of the Peace Duane Houston.
The driver of the Peterbilt was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Brenham with suspected minor injuries.
DPS continues to investigate the crash and says no further details are currently available to release.
