Alegacy Equipment has gifted $25,000 to the Blinn College Foundation to establish the scholarship, which will be awarded with a preference for Alegacy employees and family members.

Bob Nickles, co-founder of Alegacy, said the scholarship aligns with the company’s commitment to the community.

“When founding our company 10 years ago, our name Alegacy originated from our founders’ instance that our efforts leave ‘a legacy,’” said Nickles. “We consider being an active part of our community to be one of our founding principles. We believe Blinn College opening in Waller is an extremely positive step for the community and we are proud to participate with an endowed scholarship.”

Blinn has begun offering classes at the Waller School District’s W.C. Schultz Junior High, providing greater accessibility for college students in Waller, Harris County, and the surrounding region. Blinn already partners with Waller ISD to provide high school dual-credit courses at the high school there.

“Alegacy’s generous gift illustrates the company’s commitment to the local community and Blinn College students,” said Nancy Berry, Chair of the Blinn Foundation Board of Directors. “Many of our scholarships come from the business community, and we appreciate the tremendous support we get.”

The Foundation administers 325 endowed scholarships that are available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Students are considered based on high academic achievement, participation in student activities, and community involvement.

Current high school and college students can apply for Blinn scholarships by completing the application at www.blinn.edu/scholarships. Prior to applying for scholarships, students must complete their application for admission to Blinn College at www.applytexas.org.
