PUBLIC MEETING APRIL 18 TO DISCUSS CAMPTOWN COMMUNITY

Local tourism and historic preservation groups are collaborating on a project to bring attention to Brenham’s historic Camptown community.

A neighborhood meeting will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 6 p.m. at the Pickard High School Reunion Association building, 205 Kerr Street.

The meeting will be jointly hosted by the Texas Ten Historical Explorers Inc., the City of Brenham/Visit Brenham, the Brenham Heritage Museum, and other African American community leaders.

The purpose of the meeting will be to go over several new projects that will help share the history and legacy of Camptown, one of Brenham’s oldest African American neighborhoods and Freedom Colonies.   It will also introduce the groups involved and go over their project roles.

Residents are invited to attend to learn more and provide input.  L.A. Chicken Shack will provide light refreshments.
