BRENHAM PD: STOLEN VEHICLE CRASHES AFTER CHASE, 15-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED

  

Brenham police say a vehicle theft on Saturday prompted a pursuit that ended with a crash along Highway 290, followed by a search that led to the arrest of a 15-year-old.

Officers responded to a stolen vehicle call in the 700 block of South Jackson Street, where they learned that unknown suspects stole the victim’s 2019 Hyundai Elantra.

Police located the vehicle shortly after 3:45 p.m., and a pursuit started after the vehicle failed to stop on Highway 290 West, traveling westbound.  The pursuit continued to the 13000 block of Highway 290 West, near Burton.

During the pursuit, the vehicle lost control and rolled two to three times, coming to rest on the side of the roadway. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old juvenile, was later located after a search of the area.  The juvenile was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Evading Arrest/Detention, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information under 5 Items, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

Update 4/16 @ 5:45 a.m.: Police stated that a passenger, also a juvenile, sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.
