DPS INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN BURLESON COUNTY

  

Texas DPS Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred this (Monday) morning in Burleson County.

DPS Sgt. Justin Ruiz said that the crash happened on State Highway 36 near County Road 122 south of Caldwell.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6 a.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound.  Meanwhile, a 2014 Dodge pickup  towing a trailer was traveling northbound, and failed to drive in a single lane, causing the trailer to strike the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old female from Somerville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Burleson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Dusty Tittle.

A 41-year-old female of Caldwell, a 10-year-old female, and a seven-year-old male were transported to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan with suspected minor injuries.

A six-year-old male was transported by medical helicopter to Memorial Herman Houston with suspected serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was not injured.

Sgt. Ruiz said that this is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information available for release at this time.
