PANTHERS RUN-RULE THEIR WAY TO AREA WITH A 14-0 WIN OVER SABINE PASS
The rains on Thursday and Friday forced a change of plans for the Burton Panthers and the Sabine Pass Sharks in their Bi-District series. The new location did not bother Burton at all as they went to the home field of Sabine Pass and came away with a 14-0, five inning run-rule victory.
The Panthers got things going in the top of the first inning. Tyler Witt and Logun Tosta drew back-to-back walks to lead off the game. Colby Beck drove them both home with a two-run single to put Burton up 2-0. Bryson Biggs singled home Beck. Braydon Martin would then hit a fly ball to left field that was dropped by the outfielder, which allowed Biggs to score and give the Panthers a 4-0 lead.
In the second inning, Witt reached on a one-out single, stole second, and then went to third on an error. Reuben Rodriguez brought him home with an RBI single. He later scored on a passed ball.
Beck walked and came around to score on an RBI single by Martin, which extended the Burton advantage to 7-0.
The Panthers tacked on four more runs in the third inning. Brady Griffin was hit by a pitch, stole second, went to third on a balk, and scored on an error.
Eli Simank walked, stole second, went to third on an error, and scored on a passed ball. Tosta walked, stole second, and then scored on an RBI single by Rodriguez.
Then, Rodriguez came home on an RBI double by Bryson Biggs to make it 11-0.
Burton added three runs in the fourth inning. Witt reached on an error and scored on an RBI single by Tosta. Rodriguez doubled home Tosta, and then Biggs singled home Rodriguez to increase the Panther lead to 14-0.
