TWO MINOR ACCIDENTS AMONG FIVE CALLS SUNDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Sunday.

Two of the department’s responses were for accidents.  One was just past 4 p.m. on Highway 290 West at the cloverleaf, where units found a motorcycle crash without entrapment.  Firefighters found oil on the roadway and applied absorbent on the spill.  There were no injuries.

The second crash, this one also without entrapment or injuries, was at 7 p.m. in the 1700 block of Highway 105.  The vehicles involved were moved to a parking lot, and firefighters were released from the scene by the Brenham Police Department.

Another call was for a mutual aid response just after 4:15 p.m. with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department for a possible structure fire at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 9175 FM 1371 in Chappell Hill.  Firefighters checked inside the parish hall after being informed there were lights flickering and a smell.  Ultimately, nothing was found, and units advised the church to have an electrician come check the system.

The Brenham Fire Department’s other two calls were for fire alarms.  The first came around 6:45 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Harrison Road, where units found bad smoke detectors.  The other call was shortly after 1:15 p.m. at Melcher Hall, 601 Prairie Lea Street on the Blinn College campus, but the alarm was reset before BFD members made location.
