VIRIDIEN SPEAKS ON LAWSUIT AGAINST CITY OF BRENHAM, ATTORNEY GENERAL OVER RECORDS RELEASE
Officials from Viridien have shared additional information regarding the company’s lawsuit against the City of Brenham and the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Following KWHI’s request for comment, Viridien communications representative Haley Hollis pointed to a new section posted on the computing center project’s webpage that acknowledges the active legal proceedings. The civil suit comes as the result of a dispute over a citizen’s requested release of public records pertaining to the project being built at 2602 Longwood Drive.
According to the website, the Texas Attorney General’s ruling determined that certain information must be withheld, while other information may be subject to disclosure. However, it says Viridien has not been able to review what information may be released and what must be protected, as the materials associated with the ruling are encrypted and inaccessible. It adds that as of Monday, unencrypted data has been made available to the City of Brenham, and that Viridien is continuing to support the ongoing legal process.
The website reads, “This action is not about limiting transparency, but about ensuring that disclosure is handled in accordance with the legal process. We remain committed to engaging transparently with the community.”
Hollis said while Viridien is limited in what it can comment on directly, due to the ongoing legal proceedings, it is working with the city to ensure clarity and compliance with the Attorney General’s ruling and will update its website as more information becomes available.
