BIG BOY LOCOMOTIVE TO MAKE PAIR OF VISITS TO NAVASOTA
The legendary Big Boy Steam Locomotive, one of the largest and most powerful steam engines ever built, will be making not one, but two stops in Navasota in October as part of its much-anticipated “Heartland of America Tour.”
The tour will be making its first stop in Navasota on Friday, October 4, from 11am-11:30am. It will then make a return visit on Monday, October 7, from 1:30-2pm.
During its stops in Navasota, visitors will have the chance to see the Big Boy up close, take photos, and learn about the history of steam locomotives and their role in shaping the United States.
The Big Boy Steam Locomotive was originally built in the 1940s to haul heavy freight across the mountainous regions of the western United States.
As part of the tour, Union Pacific has released its official Steam Schedule, which includes detailed information on the Big Boy’s route, planned stops, and public viewing opportunities.
The schedule provides enthusiasts with everything they need to follow the locomotive on its journey across the country.
