BRENHAM CUBS PLAY HOME OPENER AGAINST HOUSTON STERLING
The Brenham Cub Football Team is getting ready for their home opener tonight (Friday) against the Houston Sterling Raiders.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Cub Stadium. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with at 6:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
It is also Seniors Night. Brenham will be recognizing the 16 seniors on this year's team.
The Cubs are coming off last week's exciting 39-35 come from behind win over the Huntsville Hornets. Senior QB Jordan Harvey completed 13 of 19 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Sophomore RB Jakoby Dixon carried the ball 22 times for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior WR Xyran Upshaw had five catches for 66 yards, and he also ran for two touchdowns in the game.
Cub Head Coach Danny Youngs talked about the game plan.
Houston Sterling is coming off a 47-6 loss to Texas City last week. They are a Class 5A Division I Team.
Last season, they finished third in their district after going 7-4 overall and 6-2 in district. The Raiders return just two starters on offense, and 5 starters on defense.
According to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Guide, despite having such a young team, they are still projected to win their district.
