400-ACRE HUDSON FIRE BURNS IN BASTROP CO., FORCING EVACUATIONS
Over 60 homes in Bastrop County were evacuated on Sunday as firefighters continue battling a 400-acre wildfire.
The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management says the Hudson Fire is at 30 percent containment as of 9 a.m. today (Monday) after first being reported by the office shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.
The fire is burning south of Park Road 1C, between Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park.
Residences in the areas of Alum Creek and Cottletown, east of Bastrop, have been evacuated. Road closures remain in those areas.
Emergency management officials say high humidity overnight helped to diminish fire activity. Today, the forecast showed humidity above 60 percent but wind gusts over 25 mph.
A bulldozer line was constructed around the entirety of the fire perimeter, and firefighters will work today to ensure that the line remains secure. Aviation resources are arriving on scene to support ground efforts.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
