WALLER COUNTY SHERIFF RELEASES MORE INFO ON ESCAPED INMATE
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office has released more information as the search continues for escaped inmate Salvador Saucedo.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, while being treated at MidCoast Medical Center in Bellville, Saucedo managed to secure a piece of hospital equipment that he fashioned into a tool in order to pick the locks on his handcuffs and leg irons.
He then fled on foot when the deputy went to the restroom. Hospital staff immediately notified the deputy, who gave chase, but was never able to catch up and get a direction of travel.
A multi-agency manhunt was conducted with K-9’s, drones, air support, marked and unmarked units.
The investigation identified his route of escape from the hospital to the north end of North Granville Street where the area becomes rural and unpopulated.
At this time, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office said that they are considering two possibilities.
The first is that due to the temperature, weather, terrain, and location of the area he fled in, he succumbed to the elements and his remains are hidden.
The second is that someone assisted him to elude capture, and he is being hidden in the same area, or he has been removed from the area, and taken to an unknown area.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office is still conducting operations and interviews to locate Saucedo. They are also maintaining undercover patrol of Bellville or surrounding areas.
They are also receiving assistance from the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force, as well as Waller County Crime Stoppers. Both are offering monetary rewards.
If anyone has information regarding Salvador Saucedo, please call the Waller County Sheriff’s Office at 979-826-8282, or submit a tip anonymously to Waller County Crime Stoppers at 979-826-8266.
They don’t think he could have hopped a train?
The BNSF Railroad is not far from where he was last seen and at the track go north and there is nothing but woods for several miles. Suggest you get in touch with BNSF resource protection to see if they can assist with the search. Did this offender have on shoes? If not he didn’t go far without help and what officer leaves a collar unattended? Bathroom? Please stop that excuse is unacceptable in my opinion.
