FUNERAL SERVICES SCHEDULED FOR DEVAH WOODS
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Devah Marie Woods, the 10-year-old girl who passed away after being caught in floodwaters during heavy storms on Monday in Brenham.
Public viewing will take place on Saturday, May 17th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 9180 Highway 105 in Brenham. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.
Due to limited space at the church, the funeral will be reserved for immediate family, close friends, ministers, school officials, government servants, civic leaders and church members. The service will be broadcast live on the church website starting at 1:45 p.m. for all who wish to join virtually.
Flowers may be delivered directly to the church on May 17th between 9 and 11 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are with Lewis Funeral Home and Allen Dave Funeral Home. The full obituary can be read here.
For anyone who would like to support Devah’s family by donating, a benefit account remains open at Brenham National Bank’s locations in Brenham, Chappell Hill and College Station. Donations and checks can be made payable to The Devah Woods Benefit, and all proceeds into the secure account will go directly to her family. A meal train has also been set up to provide meals and gift cards.
Local church groups will gather tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Courthouse gazebo for a National Day of Prayer at Night. The prayer vigil will include a time of remembrance for Devah and honor all of the public safety officials who responded and provided aid.
