WASHINGTON CO. FIRE DEPARTMENTS BATTLE HOUSE FIRE ON HIGHWAY 105

Multiple Washington County fire departments responded Thursday afternoon to a house fire.

A few minutes after 12:45 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and the Meyersville, Salem and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Departments were called out to a structure fire at a residence in the 4100 block of Highway 105.  They made location and found a manufactured home actively burning, with heavy fire coming from the front of the building.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately four hours to extinguish the flames.  The occupants were out of the home upon arrival of the first units, and there were no injuries to report.

Additional assistance was provided by Washington County EMS and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to two other calls on Thursday and one early this (Friday) morning.

Close to 6:45 p.m. Thursday, BFD members went out to a reported car fire at Highway 36 South and FM 109.  They found a coolant hose had busted, causing the engine compartment to steam, but the steam had been mistaken for smoke.  No action was needed.

Around 7 p.m., members of the Brenham, Meyersville, Salem and Chappell Hill Fire Departments were called out to the 500 block of Texan Trail for a reported microwave on fire.  They found that the occupant had burned popcorn in the microwave, causing the smoke.  Other fire department units were called off, and the Brenham Fire Department checked the area around the microwave, but nothing was found.

Just past 4:15 a.m. today, firefighters responded to a fire alarm in the 400 block of Johnson Street, but the alarm was determined to be malfunctioning in the house.
