BRYAN MAN RECEIVES PRISON TERM IN STRANGULATION CASE

Donald Montgomery (Brazos County Jail)

A Bryan man is going to be spending the next 15 years in prison after being sentenced in the latest session of the Brazos County District Court.

67-year-old Donald Montgomery received the prison term from Judge John Brick following a punishment hearing.

The incident in question occurred back on November 18, 2020.

Bryan Police Officers responded to a disturbance call and contacted the victim who reported that Montgomery assaulted her and strangled her following an argument about her children.

The victim had visible injuries to her neck consistent with strangulation.

Officers interviewed Montgomery, who they say was intoxicated and belligerent.

Prosecutors presented evidence in Montgomery’s punishment hearing from former Bryan Police Officer Michael Wurzbach and forensic Nurse at Baylor Scott & White, Dr. Chelsea Knutson.

Prosecutors said that Montgomery has an extensive history of serious and violent offenses, which began in the 1970s.

Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Escue and Robert Vetter prosecuted the case, with the assistance of Investigator James Woodward and Victim Assistance Coordinator Mandie James.
