LONGTIME DISTRICT ATTORNEY CHARLES SEBESTA DIES
A longtime district attorney for Washington and Burleson counties has died.
Charles Sebesta Jr. passed away on Friday, February 20th at the age of 85.
Sebesta served for over two decades as the district attorney for Washington and Burleson counties. He also served in Burleson County as county judge.
As a prosecutor, Sebesta was involved in several high-profile cases, including the 1994 capital murder convictions and death row sentences of Robert Carter and Anthony Graves. Graves was later exonerated.
Sebesta was a graduate of Snook High School, Texas A&M University and the U.S. Army War College. He was a member of the Southwestern Theological Seminary Advisory Council, was heavily involved in Rotary, and retired as a Full Bird Colonel from the Army.
In addition, Sebesta frequently contributed articles for area newspapers and did work in radio, including at KWHI in sports broadcasting.
Sebesta was laid to rest on Wednesday in Snook.
