The Faith Mission SMART-CARE (Science, Math, Art, Reading, Technology, Cultural, Academic Recreational, Enrichment) Kids concluded the 2025-26 School Year with a celebration last week at Fireman’s Park.

Established during the 2006-2007 school year, Faith Mission just completed their 19th consecutive year of serving students from Brenham ISD.

At the Celebration, Kaison Madaleno and Ra’Niyah Gilmon from Krause Elementary School were named as the SMART-CARE Kids of the Year.

Faith Mission Executive Director Rev. Randy Wells said that the program excels due to great community support in volunteerism and corporate sponsorship.

Created in 2022, the B-FAMOUS (Blinn Football and Athletics Mentoring Others for Ultimate Success) program that includes Blinn College Football, Women’s Basketball, and Women’s Soccer Team, amassed an incredible 2,040 volunteer hours. They serve as 1 on 1 mentors and tutors. The participation of Blinn student-athletes grew so much that every child in the program was able to have a dedicated role model just for themselves.

The Mentors of the Year include: Bryson Botts from the Blinn Football Team, Taylor Spencer from the Blinn Women’s Basketball Team, and Tristen Smith from the Blinn Women’s Soccer Team.

Parent of the Year - Shaquita McClain

Faith Mission also named Shaquita McLain as the Parent Empowerment Program, “Parent of the Year.”

The program is generously supported by the Brenham Game Changers organization with an annual contribution of $12,500 to fund program services to families.

Rev. Wells went on to say that none of this would be possible without the team, which includes SMART-CARE Kids Director Dalia Dias, as well as volunteer instructors Sami Rahman and Libby Kiecke.
