KUNKEL FINISHES 3RD AT GIRLS GOLF REGIONALS, GOING BACK TO STATE

Raylea Kunkel of the Brenham Cubette Golf Team, punched her ticket to State after finishing third at the Regional Tournament in Montgomery yesterday (Thursday.)

Kunkel, who is a sophomore, shot a 73 on the first day and a 77 on the second day for a two-day total of 150.

She finished just one stroke behind Lake Creek’s Kylie Ellegood and Friendswood’s Katherine Janda, who finished tied for first with a 149.

Montgomery won the tournament with a team score of 623 and Lake Creek finished second with a 647.

This will be Kunkel's second straight trip to the State Golf Tournament. The State Golf Tournament is going to be held May 4-5 at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
