BODIES RECOVERED IN RUBBLE OF FAYETTE CO. FIRE

  

Two people are dead in the wake of a house fire in Fayette County, Friday afternoon.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that authorities received a call to a structure fire just before 1:30, Friday afternoon at a residence on Valentine Road in the Clear Lake Pines subdivision off of FM 153 near Winchester.

The Winchester Fire Department, the La Grange Fire Department, and the South Lee County Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire which was reported to have the structure fully engulfed.

Once the fire was extinguished, two bodies were recovered from the rubble of the home.  Authorities believe the bodies are of two elderly women who lived in the home.

The State Fire Marshalls Office was called to the scene, and an autopsy was ordered.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.  Authorities say there is no indication the fire was intentionally started.
