MEYERSVILLE F.D. GETS GRANT FROM LCRA & BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC
The Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department will soon be able to purchase 25 new air tanks for its self-contained breathing apparatus systems, thanks to a $19,990 community development grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

The Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with $5,000 in matching funds, will allow the fire department to replace its current set of air tanks, which are reaching the end of their service life.
The carbon-fiber, high-pressure air tanks allow firefighters to stay in service longer when battling fires or heavy smoke.
Fire department treasurer Josh Roman said, “While the protective equipment that firefighters wear is expensive, it’s the only way to fight a fire. This grant will go a long way in ensuring that firefighters can safely and quickly respond to the needs of the communities.”
The community grant is one of a number of grants recently awarded through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program. Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative is one of LCRA’s wholesale electric customers and a partner in the grant program.
Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted July 1-July 31. More information is available at lcra.org/cdpp.
