GRIMES CO. COVID-19 COUNT JUMPS TO 89 AFTER 24 TDCJ CASES CONFIRMED WEDNESDAY
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) reported 24 new COVID-19 cases in Grimes County Wednesday, bringing the county’s total case count to 89.
According to Grimes County officials, all 24 cases are TDCJ male inmates. None of the men are hospitalized. Of the county’s 89 cases, 61 are TDCJ inmates.
The county, as of Wednesday, has 76 active cases, 12 reported recoveries, and one death.
Last week, the TDCJ announced it would begin distributing tens of thousands of new COVID-19 tests to prisons across the state. The tests have been approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and can be administered by the patients themselves.
