Wells Fargo has announced its branch in Bellville will soon be closed permanently.

Letters were sent to Wells Fargo account holders earlier this week informing them that the bank’s Bellville location at 2 East Main Street will permanently close at noon on March 24, 2021.

The branch is currently temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

Update @ 12 p.m.: Wells Fargo has issued a statement regarding the closure of its Bellville branch.  The full statement can be read below:

Our Bellville branch will close on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. As part of our ongoing evaluation of our branch network, we regularly make adjustments based on customer use, market factors, economic trends and competitor actions. We’ve been very transparent since 2017 that we’re reducing our number of branches. The changes reflect customer trends – including the way our customers increasingly use digital tools for transactions such as check deposits. This is not an easy decision or one that we take lightly. After March 24, customers can visit us at our next nearest branch located at 2833 Highway 36 South, Sealy, TX 77474.

The letter stated that area branches in Brenham, Sealy, and Waller will remain open.

The closure will not affect the accounts of Wells Fargo customers.

  1. How can we use the facilities when they are closed! Many people travel through Bellville on Hwy 36. I have been banking at this location for 21 years! They are making a terrible mistake!
