BRENHAM FIRE DEPT RESPONDED TO SIX CALLS

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls from Wednesday morning into early this (Thursday) morning.

Yesterday (Wednesday) just after 9am, the Brenham Fire Department and the Salem Volunteer Fire Department were called to a reported traffic crash with possible entrapment on Highway 36 South. BFD arrived on the scene to find a two-vehicle accident with significant debris over the roadway.  Firefighters provided traffic control, and helped to clear off the debris. Once the roadway was clear, BFD returned to service, while Salem VFD remained on the scene.

Brenham Firefighters were then dispatched to a fire alarm at 1901 Longwood Drive just before 9:30am. Once on the scene, BFD found out that the company was having problems with alarm panel.  The system was put on test mode until they could get it fixed. 

They were next called to a fire alarm at 2804 Wood Ridge Boulevard at 3:40pm. When they arrived on the scene, Brenham Firefighters found that employees had burned food in the breakroom.  The alarm was reset., and BFD returned to service.

BFD members were sent to 1025 Davy Street at 5:45pm for a carbon monoxide alarm. Units arrived on the scene only to discover that a child had pushed the button on the detector, and activated it.

Brenham Firefighters were sent to a vehicle fire at 6:25pm at 611 South Market Street. By the time, they arrived on the scene, the owner had extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher.  BFD remained on the scene until the vehicle cooled down.

The final call came in just after 5am this (Thursday) morning at 401 Highway 290 West. Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm. Units arrived on scene to find a cleaning crew cleaning an oven. The cleaning crew started the oven which caused smoke in the restaurant. After the alarm was reset, BFD cleared the scene and returned to service.
