GRIMES COUNTY SHERIFF WARNS OF ANOTHER PHONE SCAM

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to beware of another telephone scam that is going on around the area.

According to Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell, his office has received multiple reports that an individual has been calling residents and claiming to be a member of the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.

The scammer advises the person they are calling that a warrant and/or several citations have been issued for their failure to report to jury duty.

They will then demand money to be sent to them to take care of the warrant.

Sowell said this is not the first time this has happened.

He added that the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office will not make these types of calls, and they will never ask for money over the phone.

The Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware that these calls are a scam, and if you do receive one to please report it to them by calling 936-873-2151.
