AUSTIN COUNTY FAIR AND RODEO DONATES TO AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
The Austin County Fair Association and the Austin County Rodeo Committee made a pair of generous donations during their January Board of Directors meeting.
Fair Association President Kathy Ignasiak and Rodeo Committee Chairman Ricky Huff each gave $1,000 donations to Caroline Kemper, who is the President of the Austin County unit of the American Cancer Society.
Every October, the Friday of the Youth Livestock Auction is also “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” day at the Austin County Fair.
Volunteers from the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society stand at the entrance gates and give pink ribbon stickers to every fair attendee and volunteer that is wearing pink.
In return, the Fair Association and the Rodeo Committee make donations to the Unit reflecting the number of ribbons handed out.
Ignasiak said that the Fair Association is proud of their long history of supporting other non-profits in Austin County.
She added that they enjoy seeing the community all dressed in pink at the Youth Livestock Auction, supporting both the exhibitors and cancer research.
