SIX CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. OVER WEEKEND
Several accidents were among six total calls for the Brenham Fire Department over the weekend.
Around 7:15 a.m. Saturday, the department responded to a one-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of Gun and Rod Road. Firefighters found a white four-door sedan that was lying on the driver’s side with major damage, after running off the roadway and striking a tree. Units stood by while the Brenham Police Department conducted investigation. They then used equipment to remove the patient from the vehicle. Any injuries are unknown.
Just before 2 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a crash without entrapment in the 300 block of North Austin Parkway, but upon arrival were released from the scene by the police department.
Shortly before 4:15 p.m., units were sent out to West Alamo Street at South Austin Street for a crash. They arrived to find a two-vehicle accident. The vehicles were moved into a parking lot, and the fire department cleared the area.
Approaching 4:30 p.m., BFD members were called out to another crash, this one in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East. They made location and found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage. Units provided traffic control until law enforcement released them from the scene.
At 11:15 p.m., the department was dispatched for an unlock at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, but the door was already open upon arrival.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to a home in the 300 block of West Bryan Street for a report of a gas smell outside of the house. The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department found a small gas leak on the meter. A gas employee also found that the gas grill was leaking. They turned the grill off before returning to service.
