Brittni Kalich was named to the position by the Brenham School Board today (Monday) following an executive session.  Kalich will assume the role previously held by Rodney Leer, who is retiring from the school district next month after 20 years in Brenham ISD and 33 years total in education.

Kalich joined Brenham ISD as a teacher in 2011 and has held various other roles throughout her career, including librarian, instructional technology specialist and systems coordinator.  She has also contributed as a part-time English professor for Blinn College and teaches Sunday school, coordinates Vacation Bible School and helps with children’s sermons at Salem Lutheran Church.

Kalich attended Texas A&M University as an undergraduate and earned a master’s degree from Sam Houston State University.  She is currently on a path to obtaining her doctorate from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, specializing in Educational Technology.

Brenham ISD Superintendent Clay Gillentine said Kalich’s “dedication to professional development and her innovative approach to technology integration make her the ideal candidate to lead our technology initiatives.”  He said her promotion “highlights our district's commitment to building capacity from within.”

Gillentine also thanked Leer for his contributions to the district, saying he “has been an invaluable member of our team, and his presence will be deeply missed.”
