FATAL ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 290 NEAR NORTH BERLIN ROAD

  

Both lanes of Highway 290 west of Brenham were shut down as authorities continue to work the scene of a major accident this (Friday) morning.

The accident occurred just before 6 a.m., close to the intersection of North Berlin Road.

Details are limited at this time, but DPS has confirmed one fatality from the crash. 

The Brenham Fire Department says an oil spill also occurred.  As of just before 10 a.m., wreckers were making location to clear the site.

DPS is the lead agency on scene.  The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department responded with the Brenham Fire Department as mutual aid.  Also assisting on scene are the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County EMS.

DPS says it will provide more information on the crash as it performs its investigation.
