NEW VERABANK LOCATION IN BRENHAM, ROOF REPLACEMENT AT LOWE’S LEAD BRENHAM BUILDING PERMITS IN FEBRUARY
A new bank coming to Brenham and a roof project at a local home improvement store were the source of the city’s largest building permits for the month of February.

The top permit was issued to VeraBank for $500,000, performing work at 2690 Becker Drive in the Mecom Plaza shopping center ahead of a planned opening in the summer. Work is contracted to Gibraltar Construction.
After that came a $324,021 permit issued to Lowe’s to replace the existing roof at its location at 2750 Highway 36 South. Work is led by Mid-South Roof Systems.
Ten new homes were permitted in February for $1,492,776. Through the first two months of the year, 18 homes have been permitted for $2,917,280.
The city granted a total of 26 permits last month for $2,788,890. Last February saw 27 permits for $2,189,951.
So far in 2025, the city has issued 52 permits worth $10,244,066, compared to 51 permits for $4,935,252 through this time a year ago.
