CITADEL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, LEGACY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ANNOUNCE PLANS TO MERGE THIS FALL
Citadel Christian School and Legacy Christian School in Brenham have announced their intent to combine their offerings, beginning this fall.
Leaders for the two schools say they have discussed the merger for over a year and that their goal is to create a stronger educational program with additional opportunities available to families. The union will take Citadel’s traditional 5-day on-campus model and add Legacy’s university model where students spend three days on campus and two days in at-home instruction.
Citadel Head of School Sheila Suders says the two schools are thrilled to offer new ways to better meet the needs of area families.
Suders says this would also provide students with more ways to participate in athletic teams and activities.
Citadel is currently based out of Redeemer Church at 2111 South Blue Bell Road, while Legacy operates out of Cornerstone at 906 West Stone Street. Some of the finer details, such as which campus facility or facilities will be utilized, are still being worked through. However, Suder calls it a “priority” to have one single campus location.
Legacy Head of School Tabatha Carey says Citadel and Legacy share the same goal, similar curriculums and many of the same challenges. She says that by working together, they can enhance the education students receive.
The community is invited to provide input on how to best shape the program. Families interested in learning more can attend a question-and-answer session on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Redeemer Church Gymnasium.
Brenham needs a high quality Christian school that holds true the values of Christ centered teaching while offering opportunities for strong academics, athletics, arts, and other professions at the middle school to high school level. The possibilities are endless with the right people and the future of private educational opportunities in this area. It would be wonderful to have other private schools in the area all join together to support this endeavor to give parents and students the best possible education and growing a community of well rounded individuals who will be the leaders of the community in the future.
