The Brenham Fire Department responded to eight calls on Thursday and one early this (Friday) morning.
Close to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the department went out to the 500 block of Highway 290 West for a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, units found no smoke or flames showing and discovered no signs of smoke or fire after checking the vehicle’s engine compartment.
Around 3:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Highway 290 West and Highway 36 South for a transportation incident, finding a three-vehicle accident on the main lanes. They checked for injuries, but no one was hurt, and cleaned the roadway from debris. The department returned to service once the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
A few minutes before 3:45 p.m., BFD members responded to Adult and Teen Challenge, 1306 North Park Street, for a fire alarm sounding. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and they found no signs of smoke or fire after walking through the building, so they reset the alarm and returned to the station.
Approaching 4 p.m., units were called out to the Olde Oaks Apartments, 1500 Farewell Street, for a smoke investigation. They found nothing showing from the outside of the apartment building, but they did find that the power was out inside. The City of Brenham Electric Department was called to the location.
Around 4:30 p.m., the department received a report of an alarm sounding at a home in the 2200 block of Rindle Court. After not finding anything showing from the outside of the home, firefighters replaced the batteries in the smoke detector before clearing the scene.

There, they discovered a double-car garage was fully involved. All departments put out the fire and prevented any damage to the home, but the garage was a total loss.
Nearing 7:30 p.m., units from the Brenham, Chappell Hill and Meyersville Fire Departments received a report of a structure fire at a home in the 9100 block of Johns Street in Chappell Hill. Nothing was showing from the outside of the building, and it was determined that the A/C was causing smoke inside the home.
