SIX ARRESTED BY SHERIFF’S OFFICE OVER FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office made six arrests over the Fourth of July weekend.
Around 4:45 a.m. Friday, Corporal Zavala conducted a traffic stop for expired registration in the 6100 block of Highway 290 East. The sheriff’s office says the driver had an invalid driver’s license and an active warrant from Williamson County. 30-year-old Holly Michelle Kasparek of Katy was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for Driving While License Invalid Enhanced and her warrant out of Williamson County for Bond Forfeiture – Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.
Approaching 11:45 a.m., Corporal Zavala conducted a traffic stop near Highway 36 North and North Park Street for no front license plate. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy detected an odor of marijuana, and marijuana was located during a search of the vehicle. 31-year-old Giavanna Chanel Noriega of Hockley was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where she was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Shortly after 3:45 p.m., Deputy Presswood initiated a traffic stop in the 13700 block of Highway 36 North for speeding. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. 23-year-old Orlando Dakota Altamirano of Somerville was taken into custody and charged with No Driver’s License and Speeding.
Around 5 p.m., Corporal Salinas located a subject with active warrants in the 200 block of Highway 290 East. 19-year-old Tayshun Marshall of Brenham was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 1-4 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Saturday, close to 8:15 p.m., Sergeant Belman conducted a traffic stop in the 14600 block of Highway 290 West for an obscured temporary license plate. Upon contact, an odor of marijuana led to a search of the vehicle, where the sheriff’s office reported finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 21-year-old Cassandra Mekeiyra Jermya Herrera of North Miami Beach, Florida was taken into custody and booked in at the Washington County Jail for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
At 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Deputy Holmes conducted a traffic stop for no front license plate light near Highway 290 East and FM 2447. Upon making contact, the sheriff’s office detected an odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle, leading to the discovery of various narcotics. 30-year-old Robert Lenard Alexander of Manor was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B, Less Than a Gram, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 4-400 Grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
Why are people who have the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, not getting Driving under the influence?
