DIME BOX HOLDING THEIR 51ST ANNUAL HOMECOMING FESTIVAL

  

Visitors are expected to come from far and wide to the town of Dime Box for their 51st Annual Homecoming Festival.

The Homecoming Festival will be held this Saturday from 9am to 6pm in Downtown Dime Box.

The day begins with the Mini-Marathon on Saturday morning at 9am at the Dime Box Fire Station. They are going to have a 10K run, a 5K run, a two-mile run, and a two-mile walk.

Participants can register on-line at dimeboxhomecoming.com. On-line registration must be completed by Friday at 10pm.

The Homecoming Festival Parade is going to be held on Saturday. Organizers ask that you check-in by 11:45am, then the line-up and judging follows at 12 noon, and the Parade begins at 1pm.

There will also be a barbecue cookoff.  Arrival, check-in, and set-up can be done on Friday night from 5-8pm at the Dime Box Community Center.

The contest begins Saturday morning at 9am. Categories include beef brisket, chicken, and ribs. There are optional contests for Jackpot Beans and Bloody Mary’s.

There is no entry fee for the cookoff. However, each team must donate a cooked ten-pound brisket for the auction.

Awards for the competition will include Master Cook, the Showmanship Award, as well as, cash prizes for first, second, and third place.

Other activities include arts and craft vendors, a cornhole tournament, food vendors, and a kid’s zone featuring a petting zoo, a bounce house, face painting, hay rides, and an inflatable mechanical bull.

All proceeds from the Homecoming Festival go to benefit the Dime Box Lions Foundation.
