THANKSGIVING GAS PRICES UP FROM LAST WEEK

Gas prices heading into the Thanksgiving holiday are marginally higher when compared to a week ago.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.65.  That price is up 3 cents from what gas cost last week and last month, and up a penny from this time last year.

In Brenham, the average price at reporting gas stations is $2.53, with a low of $2.35 and a high of $3.00.

Looking at the metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $2.79 per gallon, while drivers in Lubbock are spending the least at $2.37.

Across the country, the average price per gallon of fuel is $3.06, down a penny from the price last week, unchanged from a month ago, and a penny more expensive than a year ago.

AAA Texas is projecting 5.8 million Texans will travel 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, which is up 1.1 percent over last year and would set a new state record.  The Thanksgiving travel period runs from tomorrow (Tuesday) to Monday, December 1st
