LADY PANTHER BASKETBALL MOVES INTO A TIE FOR FIRST WITH A BIG WIN OVER MUMFORD
The first time that the Burton Lady Panthers and the Mumford Lady Mustangs met, it left a bad taste in the Lady Panthers' mouths as they lost 38-13.
As bad as that one tasted, last (Friday) night's game could not have tasted anymore sweet, as Burton defeated Mumford 50-39 at the Burton High School Gym.
The Lady Panthers took control in the first quarter by outscoring the Lady Mustangs 15-9. Mumford came back to outscored Burton 8-7 in the second quarter. However, Burton still took a 22-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Lady Panthers started the second half by doubling up the Lady Mustangs 20-10 in the third quarter to increase their advantage to 42-27.
Mumford outscored Burton 12-8 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit.

With the win, the Lady Panthers are now 28-5 overall, and they are tied with Mumford for first place. Both have 10-1 district records.
