CUBETTE SOFTBALL DROPS DISTRICT GAME TO MONTGOMERY ON THE ROAD

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team's return to district play did not go as planned. The Cubettes fell to the Montgomery Lady Bears 10-0 in five innings via the mercy rule on Friday night.

The game started off looking like it was going to be a pitcher's duel. For the first three innings, Brenham's Kylie Baker and Montgomery's Kallie Matthews took turns putting up zeroes on the scoreboard.

Montgomery broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then finished it off with a seven-run explosion in the fifth inning to win it.

Brenham used all four of their pitchers, but once the Montgomery offense got going, they were not able to stop them.

Sandra Prieto was the only Cubette get a hit off of Matthews, which occurred in the third inning.

The loss drops Brenham to 7-10 overall, and 0-2 in district.

Next up, the Cubettes will continue district play as they host Rudder on Monday at 12 noon at Alumni Field.
