A&M LOSES QB COMMIT–ASST. COACH TWEETS ADD FUEL TO FIRE
The de-commitment of one highly-regarded quarterback prospect led to an rough night for Texas A&M football.
Highly-touted prospect Tate Martell, the third-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, announced on Wednesday that he was reopening his recruiting process, ending his longtime commitment to Texas A&M.
Minutes after Martell's announcement, Texas A&M receivers coach Aaron Moorehead tweeted about "loyalty and trust."
“I feel sorry for ppl who never understand loyalty. I can't really even vibe with u. At the end of the day trust is 100 & everything else is BS” @Amo8685
Moments later, Moorehead tweeted he wasn’t referring to Martell (which would be a violation of NCAA recruiting rules):
“I wasn't even talking about who everyone thinks I'm talking about. I didn't even know #badtiming #relevanttho #stillnoloyalty” @Amo8685
Later in the night, receiver Manny Netherly, the No. 181 overall player in the ESPN 300, announced he decommitted and referenced the tweet:
“After tonight I see what kind of person my ‘future coach’ is & I myself don’t wanna play for someone like that so without further ado I would like to announce I am decommitting from Texas A&M.” @yovng_netherly
Several other recruits tweeted overnight that they were no longer considering A&M due to Moorehead’s tweets.
