BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT TO CELEBRATE 150 YEARS THIS SATURDAY

  

The Brenham Fire Department is celebrating 150 years of service this Saturday with an open house that will take place at the fire station from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The special event will include tours of the station, a chance to meet the firefighters, and activities for kids.

“Our fire museum trucks will be at the fire station this Saturday morning and at the training center that evening” says Fire Chief Ricky Boeker. “The 1923 restored truck is one of 34 ever build, and ours is one of three still in existence. It’s also the only one with the original engine inside it.”

There will be a hot dog lunch provided by H.E.B. Cake and beverages will also be served.

Brenham firefighters have worked hard to give back to their community in many ways, including becoming published writers.

“We put together a book of the history of Brenham called ‘Answering the Bell’ that will be going on sale this weekend for the first time” says Boeker.

The ticket-admission only dinner will take place at Fireman’s Training Center. It will kick off at 5 p.m. An opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served and a special guest speaker will close out the celebration. Chief Boeker says it is an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of the fire department.

“We’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished of here in Brenham” says Boeker. “We’ve got good equipment and a good bunch of guys that will go out and help the community whenever it’s needed.”
