BRENHAM ISD BOARD MEETS WITH TASB TO DISCUSS HIRING NEW SUPERINTENDENT
The Brenham ISD Board of Trustees met Thursday night to confer with the Texas Association of School Boards Executive Search Services consultant to discuss with the Board their expectation for the selection of a new BISD superintendent.
The Board met with the Consultants and were asked similar questions to the ones asked at the public input sessions which occurred on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at the Blinn College Student Center.
The questions asked were the following: What do you believe are the strengths of the Brenham Independent School District?
The answers below were some of the most popular answers:
The Staff
The community
The focus on children
Strong business and community support,
Ethnic diversity
Extracurricular activities
New school facilities
The Board was then asked what they thought some of the weaknesses of Brenham ISD were. They included the following:
Losing quality teachers
Non-Competitive pay
Discipline at the Secondary Level
Too many changes that were driven by the State requirements
Morale
Curriculum
The third question asked was: What qualifications do you want in a Superintendent?
The answers include the following:
Someone who wants to be in Brenham, not just using the job as a stepping stone to their next job.

Strong Previous Experience
On January 20, the TASB will present their report on their results of the community outreach forum from the public forums on January 7th and 8th and the online comments received.
The Board will receive the results on January 21st.
The TASB will be back on February 23 to help the Board narrow down the applicants to 6 or 8.
The deadline for Superintendent applications is February 18.
The Board hopes to have a new Superintendent picked by April 20th.
