BRENHAM ISD TO HOST GIFTED AND TALENTED INFORMATIONAL MEETING TONIGHT

An informational meeting for parents interested in nominating their child for Brenham ISD’s Gifted and Talented Education Program will be held tonight from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the Alton Elementary Cafeteria. General information about the District’s G/T program, the nomination process, and identification procedures will be discussed.

Parents wishing to pick up an application for GT Testing for the next school year may pick up a Parent Checklist and Request Form from your child’s campus counselor’s office.

Campus Request Forms and the Parent Checklist must be completed and turned into the campus counselor’s office by noon on Friday, February 6. Forms received after this time will be retained until spring of 2016 testing time.

The testing will be done in February in order to have the student screen for GT services for services beginning in the 2015-2016 school year.

Campus placement committees will meet in May to review the student identification profiles and make placement decisions.

Notifications of the results of the identification process will be mailed out no later than June 15th. A request for parent permission to serve will be included for the students identified for services in the Gifted Program.

If a child has been previously nominated and not identified at GT, the parent will need to schedule a conference with the counselor before the nomination is accepted.
