BRENHAM POLICE HAVE WARNINGS ABOUT SOLICITORS

Brenham police officer Jason Derrick is citing a case he investigated this weekend as a warning not to give out personal information to solicitors.

Officer Derrick was called to the scene in the 1800 block of Pecan Circle when a man and a woman, dressed in hospital style ‘scrubs’ were going door to door saying they were raising money for a health care institution.  Derrick said that several residents in that neighborhood had already given the unlicensed solicitors their names, date of birth and Social Security numbers by the time he got to the scene.

Fifty eight year old Craig Douglas and 57-year old  Sheila Kaye Lilly were arrested for using fraudulent identification to solicit funds.  The charge was more serious than thought, it is a second degree felony with a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years.
