CUBETTE SOFTBALL PREPARING FOR THIRD SCRIMMAGE, THURSDAY

The Brenham Cubette softball team is looking forward to its third scrimmage of the pre-season, Thursday at Alumni Field.

The Cubettes will host Morton Ranch; JV at 5:00, Varsity at 7:00.

Coach Katie Roberts says, "Scrimmages are the times we get to try different situations out and work on getting better defensively, offensively and in the circle.  We will focus on taking care of the routine plays and ground ball outs.  At this point we want to compete during each at bat and have a plan at the plate."

Last Saturday, the Cubettes faced Bridgeland and Klein.  Roberts says she feld the team got better throughout the day, "which is the goal during scrimmages."

"Offensively, we need to produce more runs and do a better job of moving baserunners with each at bat.  Defensively, we still have many players moving around in different spots and are trying to find the best fit for our team according to who is pitching at that time.  Our pitchers are still doing a good job of giving us opportunities to make plays with ground balls.  They will need to continue to focus on hitting spots and finalizing the outs when we are ahead in the count."

"Right now, we are just looking forward to everyone getting more reps offensively and defensively and growing as a team each inning."
